Astoria Park has been central to the cultural fabric of the regional community for generations. In 2018, Astoria Park Conservancy was founded to steward the newest version of this community space, engaging Coyote Art & Ecology in 2019 with the task of bringing Astoria’s vision of nature connection to life through interpretive artwork installations. Led by Katie Shepherd Christiansen, strategic community, board, and team engagement informed the development and installation of Astoria’s grand triptych, bilingual welcome sign. Phase II is in the works: a low-impact and landscape-informed comprehensive interpretive signage experience, including a meditative wellness walk.
